Our philosophy
We love food. And we love cooking food together with others because we know that cooking food together can bring people together in a way that few other activities can.
So we created AVEQIA to offer relationship-building gastronomical meetings of the absolute highest quality.
Many people gather clients and colleagues around food at a restaurant. However, at a restaurant it can be difficult to converse with others than the people beside you and it can also feel rather passive at times. Active cooking on the other hand suits all people, seasons, weather and clothing. AVEQIA is a top-class restaurant as well as a social event.
David Berggren created the term Active cooking already in 1999. Then, just like now, it was all about an event where people could meet while cooking and simultaneously nurture and build relationships. Active cooking is not a cooking course but a way to socialise naturally in a relaxed environment with food as the common denominator.
Afetr around 10 years under the brand Aptit Stockholm we are now building further on the concept, expanding internationally and changing name to AVEQIA.
The name AVEQIA is inspired from Roman times, where the Romans to a large degree were gourmands and knew how to enjoy food and wine. AVE was used to greet people and welcome them. Q stands for Qourum which was the meeting place for the Senate, I for Inspiratio – inspiration, and A for Accubo, which simply means to the table!
